• Changing favicon.ico tips

From Rixter@VERT/RICKSBBS to All on Sunday, February 09, 2025 21:12:15
I want to change my favicon, ico from little red fox to another one. Every time
I change the picture.ico it reverts back to little red fox. I noticed some of
you were able to change this. I changed picture in web server section of sbbs,
but it keeps reversing back to fox image in that directory.
Any help in fixing this would be appreciated.

It can be helpful to others if you describe the underlying problem and the solution.

I figured everyone was so advanced in this area they already knew.

I want to change my favicon, ico from little red fox to another one. Every time
I change the picture.ico it reverts back to little red fox. I noticed some of
you were able to change this. I changed picture in web server section of sbbs,
but it keeps reversing back to fox image in that directory.

I removed the favicon from the images directory, recycled my computer, put the
new favicon in, recycled computer again , and it works fine.I saved the little
red fox dude because I might go back to it later or randomize my favicons.

I learned it by trial and error. I hope maybe I helped someone else.

If you changed the physical image, then it was changed. it was your web browser more than likely pulling the old favico from the browser cache.

I was changing it in my images folder on my web server. Every time I would try
to rename it, it would revert back to the little red fox. Once I removed the
original favicon.ico recycled the computer and put my new .ico in there and
recycled again it worked fine. I never had to refresh any web browser. It took
a while but I finally got there. Thank and have a great day.
