    Hi,
What effect does setting the direct option to no do when configuring a node entry?
Also what is the real difference between the normal and hold settings for mail delivery?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Any mail/files you send to that node will be delivered directly (not routed) https://wiki.synchro.net/config:sbbsecho.ini#node_sections

Also what is the real difference between the normal and hold settings for mail delivery?

"hold" means your node won't make an outbound connection to deliver the packet, the mailer will wait for an inbound connection from that node to deliver the mail. "normal" is not that.
