• Adding File Areas Via .na File

    Hi,
Is there a way to have file areas created via a .na file in the same way that message areas can be created for use with an FTN?

I figured out my own question.
Option 2 in the import menu works for bringing in areas from the .na file.

Yes, but the FTN shared file area format is called FILEGATE.ZXX, not ".na". SCFG->File Areas ... Import Areas...

I tried to do this the other day. It forced me to enter a parent directory even though I'm using the default and when I imported the file area format, it said 0 imported even though it is a properly formatted file, from what I could tell. I guess I'm doing something wrong again.

In info packs, both the echo list and file list usually have the .na extension.

hobbbyfile.na and pinet.na for examples. I think that's what he meant.

A parent directory requirement makes sense to me. If the library has a parent directory configured, that's prepopulated.

it said 0 imported even though it is a properly formatted file, from what I could tell. I guess I'm doing something wrong again.

I just imported a filegate.zxx file, worked as expected. File looks like this: Area FIDONEWS 0 ! News
    Area NODELIST 0 ! Nodelists
Area NODEDIFF 0 ! Nodelist changes (diffs) --

In scfg I create a file area, test.

Then I go to Import Areas >
    FidoNet FILEGATE.ZXX >
    Parent Directory I enter ../data/dirs/
    List File: /home/bbs/h/sys_file.na ...

Oh eff me. I did exactly this and I got 0 files imported last time, now it's working. Maybe it was something malformed in the other .na files I tried to import. Oh well. It did that on 3 new networks I tried to add.

At least I'll have this for reference next time so I can tell myself I'm not insane!
