    Hi Brent,

Your latest Newsline post has "garbage" in it, mainly characters that are formatted in Windows that show up as junk in other codepages. Could you run your text through a converter first to make it pure ASCII?

Here's a very simple PowerShell-based conversion (wrapped to fit; should be
    one single line:

    Get-Content input.txt -Encoding Windows1252 |
    Set-Content output.txt -Encoding Ascii

If you want to use it in CMD.EXE:

    powershell -Command "Get-Content input.txt -Encoding Windows1252 |
    Set-Content output.txt -Encoding Ascii"

Doing so would be much easier for the rest of us to read those posts.

    Thanks and 73,
    Sean

I read the transcript the other day and it was perfectly fine on my end. I'm using SyncTerm with CP437.

Sean, Not for sure Brent may be using an Amiga instead of Win type computer(s).

The only thing I see on this android phone to comment about is that I sometimes see a large PLUS SIGN instead of the Call Area when a Call Sign is shown in the text he forwards for us to read

    Never posted about this before.

If You Moderete this echo I am in big trouble.

The .txt was downloaded from a WIndows PC, and copied from NOTEPAD and pasted to the C-Net Amiga BBS using ZOCTerm.

I will be late posting this week due to vacation, but when I do I will resave the file in ANSI format in Notepad before posting.....

Out of all the weeks I have posted over the last year, strange that it just came up.

Interesting. Still, anything I post programmatically I convert
it to pure ASCII before it gets posted.

Oh well, not a big deal, just thought I'd say something.

I don't see a plus sign but I see other "garbage" in there randomly.

So I'm not the only one saeeing this.

    That'll do it. LOL

Has anything changed in your toolset doing this?

I still appreciate you posting the ARN just the same.

Don't mind you pointing it out at all....

This week I saved notepad file as ANSI, if I see the issue again I will use your .ps script and see if I can get ZOCTerm to process it after downloading (It does support REXX scripting), so might make a good technical blog anyway.

C-Net also supports post upload processing, so I might be able to find a utility to do it on the BBS side as well.
