This guy, KV4P, designed a little VHF radio that you can connect and affix to
an Android device, controlling it from an app. It can decode and send APRS
messages as well as do voice so far. It's very much in the works and just at
the beginning. His website is kv4p.com and should have a link to his "quick
start" page from there. Someone already made a Windows app for it. I would love
to see a console/text/cli APRS messaging client that works with it (for Linux
or whatever).

Thanks for posting this. I checked out the site, and think I might try to
build one of these - providing my eyes are up to whatever soldering is
required. I like the concept very much!
