Joker: Folie A Deux

I just saw this movie last night, pretty good, but not quite as good as the first with Joaguin Phoenix (a very good movie, in my book).
One thing I noticed was the persistence of red lights/glare in many scenes of the film. I think the first appearance was when Arthur first sees Lee and then they kept appearing in other scenes and sometimes in larger quantity. Anyone else notice this? I've been searching online but can't find any mention of this apparant (to me) symbolism, so I'm curious if I'm just seeing something that's not there. It seemed so obvious to me. <shrug>

in dvd commentary for some movie, maybe mimic or blade 2 or something guillermo del toro mentioned how he uses different colors for different reasons.
i think a red filter means manic/intense. I know the color red can make people feel worn out sometimes.

I think I had read that M night shamalyn <sP> dresses people, and rooms etc in red before a scary scene to invoke anxiety.
