  • InterBBS BRE/FE Leagues?

    Looking for a list of active InterBBS BRE/FE leagues. I found MedusaNet on reddit but the links to its "how to join" discord are no longer working.

    maybe since your bbs is such a gaming legend you should make your own league.
    i used to join leagues but they were ran by guys who didn't know what they were doing so i dropped them all.

    yeah, i created the x-league back in 2000 somthing and it was awesome. and at one point it was YUGE:

    looks like only a small handfull of people are playing InterBBS BRE/FE anymore so not sure it would be worth it. very sad, because its a great game. oh man, we had some major wars back in the day.. so much fun.

    yeah we had a big drop off of users. even around covid.
    I don't think they're coming back. These people who checkout 'retro' things
    and think they are so cool don't stick around.

    I'm thinking of calling it quits.
    The only thing that helps me make it through is my friendship with deuce.

    I would be in like sin.. I would love to see a SRE league.. SRE does not get
    enough credit imho. It's a great game. anyway.. I beleive I was in the x-bit league back in the day, don't know for sure.. but def would love to now.. I'm not in any others.

    I thought I called it quits back in 1996 when I left FidoNet and shut my PC BBS down. But then in 1999, I restarted my OLD Atari 8bit BBS on the internet and it has been going strong since. It runs on a PC under Atari emulation.

    I think my health is the only thing that will make me quit at this point.

    call me crazy, but i ran my bbs and bbses for the people. i provided a service.
    we don't have callers anymore. despite what some people lie about, we really do not have anything else than other sysops calling bbses. and a few randoms.

    that taiwan bbs is the only bbs still going on strong in true form.

    You might not, but this BBS has at least 4 participants, aside from myself,
    who are not sysops. Three of them check, and often participate, in
    echomail daily. The fourth plays LORD and posts some in the local areas.

    My older DOS BBS has at least 3 regulars. Two are not sysops, and I don't
    think the third is. They mostly just play door games and don't call daily.

    Yeah, that is way down from this time 30 years ago, but they do still exist.

    3-4 people is the same as having no people in my book.

    I'm lucky if I get 10 calls in a day between the two BBSes... and most are other sysops.

    I'd be in too if you started it back up again. I went offline before covid and a friend of mine asked me turn it back on during covid to get some of the old doors going again (including FE, but by the time I got it up most of the leagues were dead).

    I'm sure I have a few people that would jump in.

    That is about the same average here. I enjoy the message threads and read
    almost all of them silently, in the last few years I have started replying to a
    few of them. I am glad you and the others are still here. I do not like
    `social' media. I only use it to connect to distant friends and family, and
    to point a few people to my BBS so I can have fun with a few door games I have
    been playing since the 90s. I am glad you all still operate a BBS.

    If I miss reading social media for a day or two, I don't normally feel like
    I have missed anything. If I don't check the BBS for a day or two, I do
    feel like I have missed something. ;)

    Same here,

    I check my BBS 3 times a day. I can remember a time when it had 20 or more
    calls a day and now 6 is a heavy day. I am ok with that. I am glad I still have
    a dozen of my regulars to play games with and message. Telnet makes it possible
    for me to check it on the go, so I really like that. I had it offline for a few
    years but still got news and some message feeds and I enjoyed it more than
    social media ever. On social media I feel like someone is always watching me
    `0-0` I hope you are all alright and in time I will come to visit each of your
    BBS's.
